Monitor Control Module
BC1-CT

The BC1-CT combines the control room source selector, independent control room regulator sections for speakers and headphones, the PFL master amplifiers, the PFL status control, the control room meters and two aux master sections.

The Aux Master amplifiers are identical to the corresponding section of the program master module. Each master has a bus amp, a rotary master level control with a maximum gain of 6 dB, and a CUT switch that mutes the output. The AFL switch can be configured to PFL by a jumper and routes the AFL or PFL signal to the PFL bus. TALK enables Talkback to Aux or Oscillator to Aux, depending on the state of the Talkback section. The outputs of these master sections that are assigned to Aux 3 and Aux 4 are electronically balanced.

The Control Room Source Selector uses a mutual released switch block with 10 switches. The default configuration assigns these switches to four external stereo sources, the four aux masters in mono mode, the mono output and the program master output mix. Actually all switches are implemented for balanced stereo sources. Individual configurations are possible; please ask.

The output of the source select drives the Control Room Meters and the output stages for control room speakers and headphones in parallel. External meters can be installed if a console frame with meter bridge is used. ADT PPM high resolution LED meters or plasma bar graph meters can be used. While the internal meters are switched to PFL if this function is enabled by the corresponding switch, additional meters for PFL can be installed in a meter bridge as well as mini speakers for PFL and incoming talkback.

The internal PPM LED bars have a display range from +21 to -36 dB. The release time is 1.5 sec per 20 dB, the attack time is 1 ms. The level can be calibrated by internal trim pots to the required zero level.

The Control Room Headphone section has a PFL level control with enable switch and control LED, a volume control and a mono switch. The headphone can be connected to the local TRS jack. The output is also available on the connector panel. Additional jacks can be installed in the console's meter bridge, if the corresponding frame version is used. The output can drive up to 3 headphones of the same impedance in parallel. If PFL is enabled, the headphones are automatically switched to the output of the PFL bus amp when PFL is active.

The Control Room Speakers section has its own mono switch, an L-R switch that reverses the stereo channels, a phase switch that reverses the phase in the right channel, a DIM switch for 20 dB attenuation and a cut switch.

The Mono switch operates with 6 dB attenuation and can be set to 3 dB by a jumper. Additional jumpers make possible to assign the mono signal to the left or right channel only. The Phase reversal and the channel reversal are implemented non-latched. The Autocut switch enables the Autocut system to the control room output. When Autocut is on, an open microphone channel mutes the control room speakers automatically. In addition to the Volume control there is a stereo balance control with 0 dB attenuation at center. This control can be used either to readjust the stereo center position or to control the left or right stereo channel alone.

When PFL TO SPK is enabled, the control room speakers are automatically switched to PFL. The PFL level is determined by an additional Pot.

The PFL Master Amplifier is a calibrated stereo bus amp. The output of this bus amp feeds the switch circuits of the control room phones and control room speakers sections and the meter to PFL switch. In addition, the signal is available for the installation of an additional PFL meter in the optional meter bridge. An electronically balanced PFL output is available on the connector panel.

The PFL Status Section displays the PFL state. Three switches determine the operation of the PFL system. PFL defaults to 'Single' mode. With this mode, only one PFL can be active at a time. When another PFL is activated, the former PFL is cleared. PFL ADD selects adding mode that disables the Auto Reset function and makes possible to add any number of channels into the PFL master. PFL LOCK leaves the PFL system unchanged but blocks any action that is caused by the PFL control. PFL RESET clears all active PFL's.
